Rooted in the blessed land of Gangwon-do, this thousand-year-old tradition was recognized in 2005 as a UNESCO Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Intangible heritage is a precious asset that embodies our collective knowledge, experiences, and diverse ways of life. For over a millennium, Gangneung Danoje has preserved its unique value and meaning, standing as a world-renowned festival without parallel.

Today, the Gangneung Danoje Festival has firmly established itself as a representative festival of Korea. Moving forward, we are committed to evolving it into a global celebration where people from all over the world can participate and enjoy together.
